Day Thirteen: Solstice at Stonehenge Aotearoa

I’ll keep this post very short. Happy Solstice to you all, no matter if it’s the Summer Solstice that is being celebrated here in New Zealand or the Winter Solstice that is being celebrated back home!!  We spent the late morning and early afternoon at Stonehenge Aotearoa.

We had booked a tour, which started in the small educational center with a talk and a short video. They we walked over to the henge itself. The guide, Richard Hall, was very good and kept us entertained with stories of star lore and whatnot all through the time we were there.

After leaving there we drove to Greytown, a short way away, for lunch. Its a cute little town with antique shops and art galleries. Spotted this book in a case and had to take a photo of it!

And then it was back in the car for the three hour drive to Napier!! And look who we saw on the way there:
